Using ultrasound imaging for linguistic research
In this demo, I introduce ultrasound imaging, an increasingly popular tool in linguistics for phonetic and phonological research and fieldwork. I discuss technical aspects of ultrasound, including both tongue and laryngeal imaging, its pros and cons, procedures for data collection, and methods of analysis. I also introduce examples of linguistic research topics that use ultrasound imaging.
